Federal Budget 2016 – Reflection

The Federal Budget has been and gone for 2016 and as we knew, it was going to be an “election” budget. Purposeful is the term I used to describe it and in my opinion its a shame that a budget will pass by for another year without there being any major benefit for anyone. So much could have been done to assist small business but alas, an extension of accelerated depreciation was all that medium businesses got. Nothing further for small businesses.

Five ways to manage your contacts to drive more business

People buy from people and as the old saying goes: it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

This has never been more the case than in the world of small business, where ongoing relationships with your customers and suppliers are often critical to the success of a business.

Accounting firms should adopt a value-based pricing model in response to the new era of accounting, where technology is driving greater efficiencies in compliance work, says Xero’s head of accounting, James Solomons.

Speaking at the Xero Roadshow in Sydney recently, Mr Solomons, who is also director of Sydney-firm Aptus Accounting and Advisory, told attendees that time savings achieved through the use of modern technology shouldn’t equate to lower pricing.
